Yoga is the song that your body remembers when it is forgotten.
If all else fails... Just yoga.
Yoga is a complete way of living—a practice that nurtures the body, mind, and soul. It offers a gentle refuge from today’s chaos, restoring flexibility to a body weary from a world that values relentless strength. Why step onto the mat? Simply because yoga heals, centers your spirit, and expands your mind.
Does yoga follow a religion?
Yoga is a way of life and does not belong to any specific religion. While its roots are deeply tied to Hinduism, its core values—such as practicing non-harm (Ahimsa) and honoring both yourself and the divine—are universal concepts that align with many faith systems. Ultimately, you choose what you want to take from your practice. If you want to explore the spiritual and philosophical origins, you can. If you prefer to apply it to your own belief system, or simply treat it as a strictly physical and mindful practice, that is perfectly fine too. The choice is always yours.
I am not flexible at all, so I can’t do yoga, right?
Thinking you can’t do yoga because you aren’t flexible is like saying, “I don’t have muscles, so I can’t go to the gym.” Flexibility is a result of yoga, not a prerequisite! As we age, our bodies can tighten and lose range of motion. A consistent yoga practice helps lubricate the joints, stretch the muscles, and maintain a healthy state of mind. In short: you don’t do yoga because you are flexible; you do yoga to become flexible.
Are there different styles of yoga?
Yes, there are many different schools of yoga. While they all share the same core foundations, they differ in pace, sequencing, and overall focus. At The Enlightened Mint, we offer a variety of styles to suit your unique needs, including Hatha, Ashtanga, Yin, and Restorative. Feel free to contact me to find the perfect fit for you!
I have some injuries—can I still practice yoga?
Yes, absolutely—as long as you have been cleared by your healthcare provider. Once you have medical approval, we will discuss your injuries so I can tailor the practice to your body’s specific needs and limitations. There is always a modification, prop, or alternative pose that can give you the benefits of the stretch while keeping you completely safe. I will be here to guide and support you every step of the way.
